The instrument is manufactured based on the photothermal common path interferometer (PCI) technology, which is an improved thermal lens measurement technology. The focused beam of the pump laser produces a local thermal effect, and the optical probe undergoes phase distortion in the heated area. The detector records the wavefront changes caused by the phase distortion. Because the wavefront is very sensitive to phase changes, the cause of the phase change is interference, so this change can be clearly seen near the area where the distortion occurs, so the far-field measurement of the thermal lens is realized in the near field, which greatly reduces the measurement noise and improves the sensitivity of the instrument, and can achieve an ultra-high sensitivity of less than 0.1ppm.
At present, almost all companies in the world that research laser materials have PCI weak absorption testers to control the weak absorption characteristics of materials. The PCI test is already a recognized instrument in the industry.
