Optical thin films play a significant role in both our daily lives and advanced research. Almost any optical component - from a simple lens to lenses used in complex laser systems, space instruments, or data transmission - has an optical film layer. The new design and application of film layers typically require a constantly evolving or completely new technology to meet the growing standards of thin film optical metrology.
